Abstract

This paper explores the most important leisure needs of middle- and high-aged seniors based on their daily behavioral characteristics through a design study of community recreational facilities in old residential compound, so as to improve the daily leisure environment for middle- and high-aged seniors. This paper takes Taiyuan Shengliqiao Residential Compound as an example, conducts field survey and questionnaire survey on the existing community recreational facilities in the residential compound, combines Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory, does ANOVA on the questionnaire survey data to arrive at the preliminary transformation plan, and then does another questionnaire survey to arrive at the evaluation results of the transformation plan that has been arrived at, and then compares the conclusions of the two ANOVA data to achieve the purpose of further optimization of the design plan. In the initial renovation program, the problem of satisfaction discrepancies in comprehensive outdoor playgrounds, sports equipment, outdoor resting spaces, cultural landscaping, landscaped pathways and barrier-free facilities was essentially eliminated. Subsequently, in the evaluation data, it was found that middle- and high-aged seniors preferred to gather in venues with open views, use exercise equipment with rehabilitation functions, and prefer resting facilities with high safety and a beautiful green environment. The evaluation data based on the preliminary retrofitting program can better reflect the deep-seated leisure demands of the middle- and high-aged seniors, which can be regarded as the focus of attention for future research on related community leisure facilities.
